Phone Repair Cost in India 2026: Real Prices & Repair-vs-Replace Math
Ravish Pandey – Founder & Owner

The number that decides every phone repair is not the repair price, it's the repair price as a share of what the phone is worth used. If a fix costs less than roughly 40 to 50 percent of the phone's resale value, repairing beats replacing almost every time. This guide gives the real 2026 India prices for screen, battery, charging and water-damage repair by panel type and brand, then shows you how to run that resale-value calculation on your own phone so you stop guessing and stop overpaying.

Why the panel type sets the screen price
The biggest swing in any screen quote is LCD versus AMOLED, and it comes down to how the glass is attached. On a budget LCD phone the glass can sometimes be separated from the display, so a glass-only repair is possible and cheap. On an AMOLED or OLED phone the glass is fused directly to the panel, so a crack means the whole display assembly gets replaced.
That bonding difference is why an AMOLED replacement costs 50 to 100 percent more than a similar-size LCD. It's also why fitting a cheap LCD copy onto an AMOLED phone looks wrong: washed-out blacks, weak outdoor brightness. The full panel explainer is in OLED vs LCD replacement screens, and the grade choice is in original vs copy phone screen.
Screen cost by brand
Budget Samsung (A05, A15) and most Redmi and Realme C-series phones use LCD or TFT panels, so screens run Rs 2,000 to Rs 4,500. Mid-range AMOLED models, Galaxy A35 and A55, Redmi Note AMOLED variants, Realme Number series, push to Rs 4,000 to Rs 12,000. Flagship Dynamic AMOLED and iPhone OLED panels run Rs 8,000 to Rs 25,000, and foldables reach Rs 35,000 for the inner display.
For Apple specifically, the part-grade tiers and the Face ID and True Tone risks change the maths, covered in iPhone repair in Patna. For the model-by-model Patna list across every brand, see the Patna mobile repair price guide.
The repair-vs-replace formula
Here's the calculation that settles it. Find your phone's current used value (check a resale app or local quote), then divide the repair quote by that number.
- Under 30 percent of resale: repair without thinking. A Rs 2,500 screen on a phone worth Rs 15,000 is 17 percent. Easy.
- 30 to 50 percent: repair if the phone is otherwise healthy and you'll keep it a year or more.
- Over 50 percent: replacement usually wins, especially with other faults present.
Worked example. A two-year-old Redmi Note worth about Rs 9,000 used cracks its AMOLED screen. The quote is Rs 4,500. That's 50 percent, a borderline case, so it turns on one question: is the battery and everything else still good? If yes, repair and keep it another year. If the battery is also tired and the charging port is loose, you're stacking repairs, covered next. The full decision walkthrough is in repair or replace your phone.
The stacked-fault trap
A single repair is almost always worth it. The trap is approving repairs one at a time until the total passes the phone's value without ever seeing the whole bill.
A cracked screen at Rs 4,500, a worn battery at Rs 2,000, and a loose charging port at Rs 1,299 is Rs 7,799 on a phone worth Rs 9,000. Each repair looked reasonable alone; together they're 87 percent of resale, and a newer used phone makes more sense. Ask for the full diagnosis up front and add the faults together before approving anything. A counter that quotes one repair without checking the rest isn't doing you a favour.
Why authorised centres cost more, and when it's worth it
Authorised service centres charge more for two reasons: they fit original manufacturer service parts, and they bill brand labour rates. For an out-of-warranty screen or battery, that premium often doubles the cost versus an independent counter using good aftermarket or original-grade parts.
The authorised route is still the right call in two cases. First, when the phone is in warranty and the fault is a manufacturing defect, not a drop, going independent voids that cover. Second, when you plan to resell as fully original and a non-genuine part notice would cut the price. Outside those cases, a vetted independent counter wins on cost and speed. How to vet one is in original vs copy phone screen.
What's included, and the costs shops hide
A repair quote should be the full price, part plus labour plus testing, on a GST bill. Two hidden costs catch people out. On iPhones and some AMOLED phones, panel programming to restore True Tone or clear a genuine-part notice can be a separate line, ask whether it's included. And a "screen" quote that turns into a "screen plus frame" quote after opening means the original estimate was incomplete.
We quote the full figure after a free diagnosis and name the part grade before fitting, so the price you're told is the price you pay. The trust checklist for any shop is in phone repair warranty: what to expect.
When repair is the wrong choice
Repair is not always right, and an honest answer sometimes costs us the job. Replace instead of repair when:
- The repair total clears 50 percent of resale and the phone has more than one fault.
- The phone is three or more years old and no longer gets security updates, so you're investing in a device that's already ending.
- A budget phone needs a motherboard or water-damage recovery that approaches the price of a newer used handset.
- You want a phone kept fully original for resale and only an aftermarket part is available today.
In each case, a free diagnosis still helps, because it gives you the real numbers to make the call instead of a guess.
