OLED vs LCD Replacement Screens Explained

Choosing between an OLED and an LCD replacement screen can be confusing. Here is what you need to know about the two technologies.

What is the Difference?

OLED screens offer deeper blacks, higher contrast, and better energy efficiency compared to LCDs. However, they are generally more expensive. LCDs are cost-effective but might not provide the same visual pop.

Which phones use which — and what it means for repair

You usually do not get to pick OLED or LCD for a repair: it is fixed by what your phone shipped with. Knowing which you have tells you what the screen will cost.

  • LCD/IPS (cheaper to replace): Vivo Y-series (Y18s, Y28s), most Redmi and Realme C-series, OPPO A entry models.
  • AMOLED/OLED (costlier to replace): Samsung Galaxy A15/A25/A35, Vivo V-series, OPPO Reno, and every iPhone from the 12 onward.

On AMOLED phones the glass and panel are bonded as one module, so even a small crack means a full-module swap — that is the main reason an AMOLED repair runs higher than an LCD one.

What this does to your Patna price

Screen typeTypical Patna replacement
LCD / IPS (budget–mid Android)Rs 1,800 – Rs 4,500
AMOLED (mid Android)Rs 4,500 – Rs 9,000
AMOLED / OLED (iPhone, flagship)Rs 6,500 – Rs 22,000+

A quick way to tell at home: on a true OLED, a black image makes the screen look truly "off" and the pixels emit no light; an LCD shows a faint grey glow. For real numbers by model, see the Samsung A15 / A25 screen cost and the full Patna mobile repair price list.
